President’s message
CENA is a national body representing emergency nurses. However, many of the activities of the College occur within States and Territories. The Victorian Branch Committee of Management meets every two months throughout the year to manage the business of the Victorian Branch, which includes planning education events, completing work delegated by the National Board such as position statements and representing Victorian emergency nurses locally and nationally.
The Committee would welcome contributions from members, either by joining the Committee, contributing to events (education or social) or providing feedback and ideas for developing and improving the service provided by CENA locally or nationally.

Education and other events
The Victorian Branch aims to offer members regular education and networking opportunities by hosting a range of events across the State. These programs will focus on skill development (eg: plastering workshops), evidence based updates and themed programs (such as: burns, ventilation, paediatrics etc). The education team also run annual forums for ED nurse managers and educators to provide them with professional development opportunities.
Social activities are also a good way for emergency nurses to celebrate the work that they do and the Victorian Branch regularly consider ways that Victorian emergency nurses can enjoy themselves. This has included barbeques, organised dinners and trivia nights. We will continue to focus on ways in which we can host social events for our members.
The Branch Committee of Management meetings for the second half of 2011 will be held on the following dates:
