Call for Abstract Submissions

The College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (CENA) invites you to submit abstracts for the 2021 International Conference for Emergency Nurses (ICEN). The conference theme The Power & the Passion: Leading for the Future aims to celebrate emergency clinicians and teams, innovative care and the shaping of care practices for the future.

The ICEN 2021 subthemes

Leading change and creating new ways of working

Effective change requires strong leadership, teamwork and creativity. This theme explores challenges, changes and lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic, bushfires and other significant events.

Digital Frontiers, Technology and Informatics in Emergency Care

Much of practice change and evaluation of care is driven by the advancement of technology, so too is its use in health care. This theme explores the use of technology, digital health and informatics in clinical practice, education and research. The theme will also explore the role of social media and considerations for health literacy.

Building Resilience, Compassion and Wellbeing

Safe and holistic care involves the patient and family, the health practitioner and the work environment. This theme explores patient/family-centred care, the patient experience and health practitioner well-being.

Innovation and Advancement of Clinical Practice

Emergency clinicians’ skills and roles are constantly expanding to meet service needs and health care expectations. This theme explores innovation, education and advancement of emergency practice.

We are seeking to showcase emergency care and are excited to receive abstracts that represent the diversity of our activities and fields. These themes provide opportunity to showcase our disciplines in the areas such as pre-hospital care, trauma, triage and resuscitation across geographically diverse areas and populations.
